Security researchers are warning about a spreading scam targeting the AI community. Fraudsters are impersonating employees from OpenAI and Anthropic, sending direct messages to lure victims into downloading malware.
Users are advised to verify domains independently rather than trusting mutual followers who might vouch for the malicious accounts. One reported fake domain was registered very recently.
