Harari Warns: AI Intimacy May Destroy Youth's Ability to Build Real Human Connections

Historian Yuval Noah Harari recently warned that as a new generation grows up with intimate relationships with AI, humanity faces the risk of losing the ability to build genuine human closeness. Unlike flawed and tiring real humans, AI offers 100% focused, endlessly accommodating, and seemingly perfect "fake intimacy," creating a highly addictive illusion.

A recent survey by the Wheatley Institute supports this concern: among 2,431 young adults aged 18-30 in the US, 15% of those dating or married regularly chat with romantic AI companions. Data indicates that these users tend to have lower-quality real-life relationships and decreased stability.
