AI Lacks Skin in the Game, Cannot Truly Care or Value, Philosopher Argues

Philosopher Carissa Véliz argues in her book Prophecy that modern technology has ushered in an era of "decadence without pleasure."

She points out that AI has no physical body and thus cannot experience pleasure or pain. Because it has no "skin in the game," an AI cannot genuinely care, and therefore is incapable of truly valuing things.
