EU Pools €30B for AI Gigafactories, 20x Less Than US Tech Giants' Spending

The European Commission plans to build up to 7 AI gigafactories across Europe, backed by around €30 billion in public and private funding. In contrast, major US tech companies alone plan to spend over $600 billion on computing infrastructure this year, meaning the EU's investment is about one-twentieth of the US tech giants'.
