OpenAI announced significant price cuts for several of its API models. An industry commentator pointed out that users shouldn't worry about maximizing their subscriptions, as these plans are barely subsidized and remain highly profitable.
Modern inference systems are extremely efficient, to the point where companies could lower API prices by another five times and still make a substantial amount of money.
