Sam Altman Says Not Much Will Happen the Month After We Hit Superintelligence

Sam Altman posed a thought experiment: "say in month 23 we have something everybody agrees is superintelligence. what happens in month 24?" His answer was surprisingly muted: "not very much."
The commentator agrees, arguing that the cult of the 'machine god' expects drastic global change much faster than reality will allow. Even with massive technological progress already underway, the tangible impact on the world will unfold far more gradually than enthusiasts anticipate.
