AI Image Detection Accuracy Drops to 38%, Sparking a Visual Turing Test

As image generation models rapidly evolve, the accuracy of traditional automated AI image detectors has plummeted from roughly 79% in 2020 to near 38% against 2024 generators.
To measure how realistic synthetic media has become, a developer launched Can You Beat AI?, an interactive benchmark platform. It invites users to distinguish real photographs from AI-generated images and compare their scores with the community. Current data shows an average human accuracy of 78%.
