Claude Conversations Indexed by Search Engines Sparks SEO and Privacy Debate

Recent reports suggested that some Claude conversations were being indexed by search engines like Google, raising privacy concerns. However, SEO expert @glenngabe pointed out a technical misconception in the article: if a page is blocked via robots.txt AND has a noindex tag, search engine crawlers cannot actually read the noindex directive in the HTML.
He explained that pages blocked by robots.txt can still be indexed, but since the content cannot be crawled, the search snippet will look unusual. This technical nuance highlights the SEO challenges AI platforms face when handling sensitive user conversations.
