TechCrunch reports that as enterprises shift focus from accessing models to implementing them, Forward-Deployed Engineers (FDEs) have become the AI industry's most sought-after specialists.
According to exclusive research from executive search firm Christian & Timbers:
- Extreme Scarcity: There are only about 2,000 elite FDEs in the U.S. with the sector know-how, gravitas, and applied AI experience needed to drive actual ROI. "Not 2,000 available. 2,000 total."
- Surging Demand: Demand for these specialists is projected to surge by 2,100% by the end of the year.
The study is based on interviews with over 250 C-suite executives, 80 Fortune 500 execs, and 300+ applied AI engineers. As companies rush to turn AI expenditures into measurable bottom-line results, the war for elite FDE talent has officially begun.
