India's Sarvam AI Caught Misleading with Chart Crimes to Oversell Model Performance
IndraVahan · x · 2026-07-30
Indian AI lab Sarvam is facing backlash from its own developer community after presenting misleading benchmark charts at their Epoch event to exaggerate model performance.
Despite genuine technical progress — including top-tier Hindi TTS, SOTA speech-to-text, and an upcoming sovereign 1T+ parameter model — the company chose to hype a beta product with what critics call "chart crimes." As one of India's few remaining frontier labs, the cheap trick squandered significant community goodwill.
