Turing Award winner and pioneer of causal inference Judea Pearl sharply criticized the dogmatism prevalent in today's academia during a recent interview. He noted that the scientific community is now even more "cultish" and conservative than the paradigm inertia described by Thomas Kuhn in The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.

Expressing deep disappointment with the academic establishment, Pearl labeled the community as highly dogmatic, conservative, and anti-progress. Using his own field of causal inference as an example, he highlighted the massive resistance the science faces when trying to penetrate disciplines like statistics and economics, where researchers still think using century-old paradigms.
