Inside YC: Demystifying the Culture of Relentless Building
edgarpavlovsky · x · 2026-07-30
A former YC member shared observations on the internal culture of Y Combinator. From the outside, YC seems surrounded by an enormous mythology, but internally, it feels aggressively normal and pragmatic: very little effort is spent making it feel glamorous, nobody cares about titles, and partners are remarkably humble.
The core vibe is a community of people who wake up persistently excited to 'make something people want,' measure how they did, and try to do better the next day. Ultimately, no one cares about prestige; they only care about what you shipped, customer feedback, and whether your company is growing.
