HiFi-UMI: Training Deployable Robot Policies Using Only Low-Cost UMI Data
_akhaliq · x · 2026-07-30
Researchers introduced HiFi-UMI, a new post-training paradigm that relies purely on low-cost UMI (Universal Manipulation Interface) data. The team also released 2,000 hours of high-quality UMI data to the community.
Experiments show that using robot-free bimanual data collection (3mm tracking error), UMI-only post-training performs roughly on par with data collected via robot teleoperation across several real-world tasks. The team is currently seeking global academic and commercial collaborations.
