Lilian Weng, co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab, is rejoining OpenAI to focus on recursive self-improvement research, confirmed by an OpenAI spokesperson to The Information.
Weng recently announced her departure from the startup, citing severe health issues caused by sustained high pressure and overwork over the past seven months. Her exit means four co-founders have now left Thinking Machines within a year, leaving only Mira Murati and John Schulman at the helm.
