Coinbase Integrates x402 Protocol for Autonomous AI Agent Payments

Coinbase announced that its CDP Payment Acceptance now supports agentic payments via the x402 standard, automatically bringing this capability to thousands of Coinbase Business merchants.
Powered by stablecoins, the feature allows AI agents to programmatically authorize and settle gasless USDC payments on Base via an API. The entire process requires no hosted pages, wallet pop-ups, or human intervention. The first transactions have already been successfully processed.
