The Decoder · rss · 2026-07-29
OpenAI has released two speech-recognition models through its API: GPT Transcribe and GPT Live Transcribe.
According to The Decoder, GPT Transcribe is an improvement over its predecessor, but it still trails ElevenLabs, Google, and Mistral on error rates. The launch expands OpenAI’s speech stack, even if it does not top the current accuracy charts.
