OpenAI says frontier AI may eventually need pacing, not just acceleration

OpenAI said frontier AI development may eventually advance so fast that the world will need to pace progress, and that it hopes to help build the tools and mechanisms for doing so with the U.S. government, other labs, and open-source communities.
Neel Nanda echoed the view that AI is moving very quickly and that coordinating a slower pace may be needed, even if it is hard to implement in practice.
