Abby Care’s founder Havi Nguyen built the company from personal experience navigating Medicaid and family caregiving.
Alfred Lin says that founder–problem fit is obvious here: Nguyen helped file Medicaid benefits for her family as a child, later worked in tech, and realized software could help family members become paid caregivers for loved ones. The startup estimates there are about 59 million family caregivers of adults in the US, spending nearly 50 billion hours of unpaid work, worth almost $1T in wages. Abby Care is still early and operates in 8 states out of 37 that allow it, but Lin says the impact is already clear.
