Netlify Makes New Projects Private by Default to Adapt to AI Agent Workflows

thisiskp_ · x · 2026-07-29

Netlify has announced that all new projects will now be private by default. For new teams on Credit-based plans, features like deploy previews, branch deploys, and agent run previews will remain inaccessible until explicitly made public.

This update reflects a shift in development workflows. While deploying was historically the hard part and mostly public-facing, the rise of AI agents means deployments are increasingly used for prototypes, internal tools, and early client work—representing a work in progress rather than a final publication.
