FastMCP name clash hides two separate projects, with Python as the canonical one
tristanbob · x · 2026-07-29
A small but useful reminder: there are two different projects called FastMCP, and the Python one is the more established option.
- Canonical FastMCP is the Python project, installed with pip install fastmcp.
- The TypeScript/npm project is a separate codebase, installed with npm install fastmcp.
- The post helps avoid confusion for people working with MCP tooling.
