Declassified 1966 Shakey report shows a robot that planned its own path

A declassified technical report on Shakey the robot is now public. The 1966 US-government-funded system could observe a room, build an internal model of it, and devise its own plan to move across the space.
The post links to the report and highlights how ambitious the project was for its time: the computer running it was so large it filled a building.
