Using LLMs to optimize the next LLM is not singularity, argues Burkov

The post argues that the current wave of “LLM helps improve the next LLM” work should not be confused with singularity.
In the author’s framing, singularity means AI self-improves at an ever-accelerating pace until it becomes god-like. Asking a model to read papers, try new tricks, and optimize under a tight GPU budget is still just human-directed engineering, not runaway self-improvement.
