AI progress is diffusion-driven, so slowing one actor won’t slow the field

The post argues against a blanket slowdown of AI progress. It says progress by any actor spills over to everyone else because of capability diffusion, so “slowing down part of the way” would not meaningfully contain the overall trajectory.

This is less about a specific model or product and more about the strategic dynamics of AGI progress: once one group advances, the gains quickly propagate across the field.
