Google says Gemma open models have passed 300M downloads

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said Google has long supported open source and science, citing JAX, Transformers, AlphaFold, and Gemma.
He said Gemma open models have now been downloaded 300M+ times, and argued that a strong, secure open ecosystem helps the world benefit from AI. He also said Google’s proposed standards framework is meant to support responsible deployment of both open and proprietary models.
