Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said Google has long supported open source and science, citing JAX, Transformers, AlphaFold, and Gemma.
He said Gemma open models have now been downloaded 300M+ times, and argued that a strong, secure open ecosystem helps the world benefit from AI. He also said Google’s proposed standards framework is meant to support responsible deployment of both open and proprietary models.
