The AI chip startup map is now a $58B private-paper market
A chart of AI Silicon and Chip Companies shows how startups are attacking Nvidia’s dominance by removing different bottlenecks in the compute stack:
- Groq: eliminate DRAM
- Cerebras: eliminate the interconnect
- d-Matrix: eliminate the compute/memory split
- Majestic: eliminate server compute centrality
- Etched, Taalas, MatX: eliminate generality
- Substrate: eliminate the $400M lithography machine
The image also frames the sector’s valuation surge: Cerebras at $48B, Groq at $20B after Nvidia’s $20B deal, and Etched at $10.3B after a fresh jump. The chart puts the total private-paper value at about $58B, versus about $48B in public market cap, highlighting how aggressively the market is pricing next-gen AI silicon.
