TICS paper warns chatbots may erode human cognitive diversity

A new paper in Trends in Cognitive Sciences argues that as AI chatbots standardize how billions write and reason, they may erode humanity’s collective problem-solving and ideation diversity.

The authors warn that repeated exposure to similar LLM outputs could narrow cognitive variety over time, and call for AI systems trained on real-world global diversity instead of a narrow slice of online text.
