EEG study suggests depression may be a prediction-updating disorder, not just a mood disorder

A new line of research suggests depression may be less about mood alone and more about how the brain updates predictions.
According to the post, EEG-based work shows that positive information is registered, but it is weighted too weakly to meaningfully revise a person’s expectations about the self and the world. The result is a kind of rigid belief updating, which fits a predictive-processing view of depression.
