Native model personality may be hard to carry across languages

Hanchung Lee argues that it may be difficult to preserve a distinctly Chinese personality in English, and vice versa, because language itself sets the limits of what can be expressed and felt.

The quote he responds to says that Chinese models like GLM 5.2 already feel different from Claude in personality, and that native character training from Chinese labs could produce models shaped more by Chinese culture and values than Silicon Valley’s.
