Microsoft says MAI is now in Excel Copilot for common tasks, matching GPT-5.6

Microsoft says the MAI model is now running inside Excel Copilot for the most common tasks, with quality reportedly on par with GPT-5.6.
The post also highlights that Excel Copilot keeps the full stack in one place — model, harness, agents, and product-specific evals — and that Microsoft hill-climbed MAI against that stack to get there. It adds that the system runs on A100s, not only on the newest accelerators.
