NVIDIA and Microsoft back open-weight models as key to U.S. AI leadership

NVIDIA circulated a letter on open-weight models arguing that they are essential to American AI leadership.
- The letter, co-signed by Microsoft, Palantir, ServiceNow, Box and others, says open weights expand access so startups, universities, hospitals, factories and small businesses can use frontier capabilities without renting them from a few closed labs.
