Software engineering legend Grady Booch addressed his debate with Gary Marcus regarding the timeline for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Booch reiterated his stance that AGI—regardless of its exact definition—is not coming anytime soon.
Clarifying Marcus's remark about it not happening in the lifetime of "your children's children," Booch noted that "century" was his own phrasing. He predicted that his young teens have a pretty good shot to make it to the end of the century, while their not-yet-born children stand a strong chance of witnessing AGI.
