Anthropic launches Claude Opus 5 at Opus 4.8 pricing, with claimed SOTA scores and a FreeCAD demo

Anthropic has launched Claude Opus 5 at the same price as Opus 4.8 ($5 / $25 per million tokens), while claiming new state-of-the-art results on Frontier-Bench and GDPval-AA.
- ARC-AGI 3: about 3× the next-best model
- OSWorld 2.0: beats Fable 5’s best score at roughly 1/3 the cost
- Rolled out as the default on Max and the top model on Pro
The post highlights a striking benchmark demo: given only a machine-part drawing and no direct way to view it, Opus 5 allegedly built its own computer-vision pipeline from raw pixels, then reconstructed the part in FreeCAD — repeatedly.
It also notes a safety wrinkle: Anthropic says it did not train on cyber tasks, and Opus 5 still trails Mythos 5 on exploit development.
