Gary Marcus quotes his December 30, 2024 bet with Miles Brundage to argue that AGI is still far away.
He says a true AGI should be able to do nearly all of the examples in that bet, and that we are not there—or even close. His broader criticism is that people waving a few cherry-picked successes from 2023 without systematic evidence do not change the underlying picture.
