NVIDIA says the world needs both closed frontier models and open models
Jensen Huang shared NVIDIA’s first public letter on why open models matter.
The letter argues that AI will transform every industry and be built by every country, and that open models help with:
- Safety and cybersecurity
- Innovation and diffusion
- Sovereignty
It concludes that the ecosystem needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models, not one replacing the other.
