AI made SaaS demos cheap, but production still takes 1,000 commits

The post argues that SaaS is not dead, but the kind that is easy to justify buying has changed.
It says companies now buy software when it clearly wins on at least two of four axes: time, money, the team’s capability, or tokens. AI has made demo-worthy features cheap to clone, but the real product is the plumbing around them: pipelines, integrations, compliance, uptime, audit trails, and production edge cases.
The punchline is that the gap between a demo and production is still enormous — "1,000 commits" — and that’s where durable SaaS businesses live.
