OpenCode says it hit 13M MAUs and 20× growth after an Anthropic clash
Y Combinator · youtube · 2026-07-24
OpenCode says it has reached 13 million monthly active users, 20× growth this year, and more daily token volume than OpenRouter.
In a Y Combinator interview, founder Jay V describes OpenCode as an open-source alternative to Claude Code that works with any model. He says Anthropic’s attempt to block the product unexpectedly accelerated adoption, and frames the company’s rise as the result of 16 years of near-misses, one legal entity, and nine YC applications.
