A WSJ report says Huawei has cut China’s dependence on foreign AI chips from 90% in 2021 to below 60% by 2025, and that newer designs could push it to 25% over the next five years.

The company also says it has found workarounds for building near state-of-the-art silicon without leading-edge manufacturing tools, with Eric Xu arguing that the company was forced to innovate after the U.S. pressure campaign.
