An AI side project earned just $9 in two months after a free-tier character experiment

A creator says the “AI passive income” promise did not match reality: after two months, a free-tier experiment with a synthetic character had earned only $9.
They used APOB AI’s free daily credits to build and publish a public character, mostly to test whether a consistent face would hold up across batches of generated images. The still-image workflow worked better than video: attempts at a talking clip failed because the expression drifted between frames, so the creator abandoned video and stuck to images.
A quick curiosity test with Midjourney was also mentioned, but the main takeaway is that the setup was nearly effortless and the revenue was tiny.
