GPU rental premium still sits near 120% as hyperscaler and neocloud prices diverge
AccBalanced · x · 2026-07-24
Silicon Data says hyperscalers charge a 2–3× premium for on-demand GPUs versus non-hyperscalers, and that the gap has been narrowing.
- The company separates A100/H100 hyperscaler indices from neocloud indices because the two markets have different pricing dynamics, volatility, and term structures.
- It says hyperscaler H100 prices fell about 40% in 2025, while non-hyperscaler prices dipped and later recovered, compressing the spread.
- As of Q3 2026, the hyperscaler premium is still around 120%, but roughly half of what it was at the start of 2025.
- This is a useful read on the GPU rental economy and how capacity is being priced.
