OpenRouter’s weekly model usage keeps climbing, but it still misses much of the market

The reply says OpenRouter may offer some signal, but the sample is too small and much of the usage happens inside closed-model vendors’ own client apps.

The attached chart shows weekly model usage across OpenRouter climbing sharply over time, reaching roughly the 60T-token range by late June/early July. The point is that OpenRouter can hint at demand trends, but it still does not capture the full market because a lot of usage is hidden inside proprietary clients.
