Google shared usage data on Gemini, and the most interesting takeaway is that multimodal AI may be more useful for manual labor than many expected.

The chart says AI is not limited to white-collar work. In manual and technical trades — such as auto technicians and industrial mechanics — workers are using conversational AI as a live collaborator for real-time diagnostics, troubleshooting, and on-the-fly learning.

Google also says workers in these roles are about 2x more likely to use multimodal AI. Examples include interpreting test results, debugging electrical wiring, and inspecting machinery for wear.
