Code and Codex hide a surprising amount of complexity for new users
emollick · x · 2026-07-24
Trying to onboard a novice to Code or Codex quickly exposes how much hidden complexity these tools have:
- They assume users already understand model names, thinking levels, projects vs. folders, skills, plugins, and connectors.
- Even the simple “+” menu can open a cascade of options.
- The attached screenshots show the UI surfacing photos, web search, deep research, connectors, plugins, skills, and other capabilities in one place, with much of it apparently undocumented.
