New ComfyUI tile-refine node promises faster, cleaner image upscaling
blakeem · reddit · 2026-07-24
A new ComfyUI node called Context Anchored Tile Refine is now available. The author says it is faster and higher quality than Ultimate SD Upscale, and built from scratch to solve tiling issues with a more deterministic approach.
- Instead of asking for tile size, users provide the maximum generation dimensions and the node calculates tiles automatically.
- It supports masking regions and refining different parts with different models or settings in one node.
- A built-in Tile Simulator visualizes tile calculation, context overlap, and the new contextanchor method used to keep adjacent tiles coherent.
- The author says they use it with Chroma for generation, Z-Image Turbo for 3× upscaling, and SAM3.1 segmentation to process foreground characters and backgrounds separately.
- The node is available now in the ComfyUI Node Manager, with example workflows planned soon.
