OpenAI is rolling out Voice support for Work and Codex in ChatGPT desktop
IamSteaked · reddit · 2026-07-24
Reddit users spotted documentation showing that OpenAI is rolling out Voice support for Work and Codex.
The docs say users can:
- open the ChatGPT desktop app and choose Work or Codex
- enable Voice, then grant microphone and possibly screen/audio permissions
- speak naturally, interrupt the assistant, and steer tasks in real time
The post also notes that connected Voice time is metered separately under flexible pricing, and that tasks started through Voice draw from the same shared usage and credit pool as Work and Codex. Only one Voice conversation can run at a time.
