The post highlights Sam Altman’s earlier statement that OpenAI’s “AI intern” would have roughly 500k A100-equivalent GPUs to work with.
It quotes his livestream update: OpenAI’s internal goals are an automated AI research intern by September 2026 running on hundreds of thousands of GPUs, and a true automated AI researcher by March 2028. Altman also said the company is being transparent because of the potential impact and outlined a five-layer safety strategy: value alignment, goal alignment, reliability, adversarial robustness, and system safety.
