Google AI Mode bug restarts chats and wipes users’ conversation history

Google AI Mode users are reporting a serious bug where opening a conversation can restart it from scratch, duplicate the chat, and effectively wipe prior history. The reporter says the problem has affected multiple Google accounts and that Gemini’s own troubleshooting steps did not help.
The post frames this as a destructive product issue rather than a model-quality complaint: long conversations with many prompts are being lost, re-saved as new chats, and reopened chats keep re-triggering the reset behavior.
