YC-backed Tornyol is testing a 40-gram drone that hunts insects in mid-air

French YC-backed startup Tornyol is building a 40-gram autonomous micro-drone designed to detect and eliminate mosquitoes.
In a controlled test, the first confirmed target was a moth, not a mosquito. The drone uses ultrasonic sonar and tiny microphones to read wingbeat signatures, identify insects, and intercept them in flight — with no spray, no chemicals, and no static trap.
