Micron options look like a higher-beta AI trade than Nvidia, trader says
JOBhakdi · x · 2026-07-23
The poster says they hold much more synthetic exposure to Micron (MU) through short ATM and OTM puts, because MU options carry very high premiums. That structure lets them stay net long with a large downside buffer while still capturing around 10% near-term upside.
They argue Nvidia is the steadier name with lower risk, while MU could still work toward $2,000 short term — but would be highly sensitive to any change in the AI narrative. They even speculate that a slowdown in Anthropic enterprise revenue growth could trigger a sharp one-day selloff in MU if the stock is above $1,000, while acknowledging the move would be irrational.
