Bug summary
TaskCreate / TaskUpdate / TaskList / TaskGet are unavailable in a real interactive Claude Code CLI session on v2.1.217, and the documented override CLAUDECODEENABLETASKS=1 does not bring them back.
What the reporter found
- In a genuine TTY session, the task tools are missing from the registry
- CLAUDECODEENABLETASKS=1 has no effect
- Disabling telemetry / GrowthBook makes the tools appear again
- The workaround also disables other flag-gated features such as 1M context, /remote-control, --bg, Agent View, and the 1h prompt-cache TTL
Conclusion
The reporter argues the blocker is a remote GrowthBook flag rather than a local isatty check, and that the current coupling forces users to trade off unrelated paid features to regain task tools.
