Uber said it cut 10% of jobs in its customer service operations as part of a broader push to simplify the organization and “embrace artificial intelligence,” according to Bloomberg.
- The company says this is the first time it has directly tied layoffs to automation.
- Megha Yethadka, who leads global community operations, reportedly told staff that the org had become too complex and siloed.
- The stated logic is that AI cannot scale cleanly on top of fragmented processes, so Uber wants to fix structure first.
